Arcadia Citrus Program starting Saturday, January 28th

We will be collecting citrus again starting this Saturday to confound the dreaded roof rats.  The focus of the program is to provide homeowners who pick their fruit, a convenient location to donate.

Attached is our flyer for the 2012 collection, this year we are encouraging different groups and local companies to sponsor a fruit collection or “man” the Saturday drop off at the Scottsdale Elks.

Cactus and Pine Hack Attack

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Jonathan Williams and I am the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at La Paloma Country Club in Tucson, Arizona. The staff here at La Paloma has volunteered the facility to host a Cactus
and Pine Hack Attack Event. For those of you unfamiliar with Hack Attack, it is a golf outing setup by several superintendents and vendors in the Scottsdale area in order to create camaraderie and promote stewardship in our profession. I personally have attended several Scottsdale based events and attendance is exceptional from locals, and I would love to see the same outpouring from our Tucson
and Southern Arizona contingent.

So how does this involve you...The General Manager, Kent Instefjord, Director of Agronomy, David Stout, and the Staff here at La Paloma Country Club request your participation in our event. The facility
has been generous enough to offer 70+ complimentary tee times in an 11 A.M. shotgun in peak season.

"It's time to issue a full frontal assault on everyone's complacency about playing the game that feeds all of us. How do you expect your neighbor, friends and family to play when you're not setting the example? We are not grass farmers! It is not a sustainable crop unless people are playing on it. We are all stewards of this great game and it's in our charge to lead the way, clubs in hand." Hickman's Family Farms has been family-owned and operated in Arizona since 1944. In its early days, Hickman's entered the Arizona food service market by providing fresh, locally produced eggs direct to small independent restaurants, and directly to consumers. Every afternoon, one little refrigerated panel truck was sufficient to deliver the day's production to coffee shops in Glendale and to Carnation Restaurant in the big city of Phoenix. Bill and Gertie Hickman displayed the entrepreneurial insight that has kept Hickman's competitive for decades.

Hickman's Family Farms utilize stringent methods of conservation and recycling to remain as environmentally-friendly ("green") as possible. Wash water is recycled and reused, and manure is dried, ground, and turned into high quality fertilizer. By the time we are through at even our largest facilities, we actually discard into dumpsters less waste than the average apartment building does in a day.
